This is a rare handwoven tapestry designed by Marianne Richter (1916-2010) for AB Märta Måås-Fjetterströms ateliers in Båstad, Sweden. The composition is called "Tuppamattan" ("Rooster Carpet").
A beautiful composition depicting four roosters (or peacocks) colored in turqoise, emerald green and aquamarine shades contrasted with pink details. Designer initials MR in the lower right corner and the producer AB Märta Måås-Fjetterströms initials ABMMF in the lower left corner. Excellent condition with age appropriate wear. Size: 176 x 160 cm
Marianne Richter’s “Tuppamattan" is represented in the collections of Nationalmuseum in Stockholm (inventory number NMK 39/1951).
