The chair is made of rattan. This natural material makes this chair - despite it's impressive dimensions - very light weight, regarding its weight and its design.
The chair is in a very good undamaged condition, with only light patina.

These chairs are designed by Gio Ponti and Lio Carminati and were made during the late 1940's into the 1960's.
Ponti and Carminati originally designed this chair for the luxury ocean liner Conte Biancamano, where it was placed in the cabins and the lounges. Later it was also produced for private places, and it quickly became a huge success.
